Times of Fantasy

    I know that inside the skyscrapers and edifices and behind people of all trades, hide some secrets that are hard to perceive. They exist in corridors, behind young trees, and in every expression flashed, but there is often much more reality in these places. For a long time, I seemed to be wandering between the realities of a prosperous city and a hopeless corner.

    Actually reality always depressed me. That is until one day when I came to the beach on the eastern edge of the city, a fish without its tail floated up to me on the surging waves. It was large and had been dead long enough that it had begun to lose its color. Where did it come from? Where had its tail gone? What took its life? Had it fallen victim to hungry sailors or a sharp propeller? Did its unfortunate fate have any relationship to our lives?

    Many days later, this fish reappeared before me as a creature in my photograph. Confronted with the turbid seawater and the aforementioned questions, suddenly, I came to the realization that behind everything is a river of visions and dreams.

    The river carries with it scenes, stories, and sometimes the vertiginous moment. Every tiny ripple has a time of illusion, every shiny wave reflects the gaudiness, vulgarity, and appetite of the city; every grain of sand has its own melancholic story.

    I tried to talk to them, in a lowered tone and a tempered speed, to listen to their sighs and similes. Today, after all that, I stand by the river and look far away with my arms crossed in front of me. Here the river is wide and the tributaries interlace. It is difficult to distinguish the realistic from the fanciful. I know there is no need for me to add anything as “every river will eventually follow its own path.”
